Biographical Description

Lawson E. Rice was born around 1836 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He moved to Wilmington (New Hanover County), North Carolina, in 1866, where he directed the Cape Fear Building Company. He was hired to work on construction with the Western North Carolina Railroad Company, and later sued the company over disputed payments. The case was settled in 1878. He died in 1881 in Wilmington.
