Alexander Dobbins was born in Ireland in about 1715 and later immigrated to Pennsylvania before settling in Rowan County, North Carolina in 1749. A member of the Salisbury Committee of Safety, Dobbins also served as a lt. colonel in the Rowan County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia. Dobbins died in Rowan County in about 1799.
