Samuel W. Watts was born on April 16, 1826, in Williamston (Martin County), North Carolina. Watts was a Confederate veteran and an attorney who served as the Superior Court Judge for the Sixth Judicial District of North Carolina. During his time as a Superior Court Judge, he resided in Franklinton (Franklin County), North Carolina. He died on October 6, 1881, in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
