Mary Becket was a resident of Edenton in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina. Her maiden name is unknown, but she was married to Christopher Becket a constable, doorkeeper, and custodian of public buildings in Edenton. Mary Becket found herself before the North Carolina colonial court several times either as a witness or because she'd been charged with a crime. Her most notable appearance in the colonial court record was in 1740, when she was charged with entertaining servants and enslaved individuals in the middle of the night, as well as receiving possibly stolen goods from a servant. Although she was indicted for the crime, the outcome of the case has not been located. Becket survived her husbands death in 1736 and died sometime after 1740.
