Biographical Description

Elizabeth Young was a resident of Edenton in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina in 1740. That year, she made a sworn deposition regarding Mary Becket. According to Young, while she was living with Mary Becket, she witnessed Becket host servants and enslaved individuals at their home late at night and also knowingly received stolen goods from a servant. Both acts were crimes. Based on Young's testimony, Becket was later indicted. Any further information regarding this individual has not been located.
