William Thomas was born in Talbot County, Maryland on January 31, 1741. Later a resident of Anson County, North Carolina, he was member of the local committee that drafted Anson's nonimportation resolves in 1774. Thomas represented Anson at the North Carolina Provincial Congress in 1774 and 1775. He died in Richmond County, North Carolina in about October 1800.
