Charles Medlock was a resident of Anson County, North Carolina. The local sheriff from 1765 to 1767, he became a local justice of the peace in 1768. In 1774 he became a member of the Anson County Committee of Correspondence. Later in 1775 he became a lt. colonel of the Anson County Regiment of the North Carolina Militia, before attaining the rank of colonel in 1776. From 1779 until the end of the war, he served as a colonel in the Richmond County Regiment. He died in Warren County, Georgia in about 1797.
