Jesse Bogue was born in Perquimans County, North Carolina in about 1745. A Quaker, he later relocated to Wayne County, North Carolina, where he signed a petition in 1780 from the Wayne County Quakers to the North Carolina General Assembly, asking for reconsideration of taxes levied on the Quakers. He died in Wayne on February 10, 1795.
