Joel Parish was born in Hebron, Connecticut on May 31, 1758. Parish became a resident of New Hanover County, North Carolina by 1773 and in 1775 he became a member of the local Committee of Safety. Parish served as an inspector of the poll in 1787. He died in New Hanover County in about 1790.
