Biographical Description

Joseph Harron was a mariner and resident of colonial Chowan County. In 1755, he joined other merchants, traders, and planters in petitioning the Board of Trade for relief on trade restrictions. Harron served as a surrogate judge for the Vice-Admiralty Court in 1759. His name is often also spelled as "Herron."
