Biographical Description

Clyde Roark Hoey was born on December 11, 1877, in Shelby, North Carolina. Hoey was an attorney, a state legislator, Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina (1913-1919), and governor of North Carolina (1937-1941). He died in Washington, D.C., on May 12, 1954.
