Biographical Description
Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818) was a German princess whose marriage to King George III in 1761 made her Queen of Great Britain and of Ireland (later the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland), a position she held until her death in 1818.
