Jessie Roth was born November 16, 1901, in North Carolina. The daughter of a Russian immigrant (Gustave Roth), Jessie was shot and seriously wounded in Henderson (Vance County) by Austin Green on September 5, 1917. She died from the effects of those wounds in a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, on November 5, 1917.
