Biographical Description

John MacDowell (1717-1763) was an ordained Anglican minister who served congregations at St. James Parish, Wilmington (1754-1757) and St. James and St. Philips, Brunswick (1758). In 1758, he assumed the rectorate of St. Philips, and in 1762, he was named a missionary for the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts.
