Luke White (d. 1796) was a resident of Bertie County. In 1742 he testified before the local court regarding Scipio, an enslaved American American man that had run away to Benjamin Hill's plantation. In 1778 White signed two oaths in both Bertie and Chowan counties swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence.
