Biographical Description

Samuel Swann III was born on June 19, 1747. A merchant in Wilmington, he was a member of the Wilmington Committee of Safety and a major in the New Hanover District Minutemen during the American Revolution. He died from injuries associated with a duel on July 11, 1787.
