Wible Lawrence Mapother was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 28, 1872. Mapother was a lifelong employee of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, working his way up to vice president (1904-1921) later president (1921-1926) of the company. He died in Panama on February 3, 1926.
