John Jay Henderson was born on January 12, 1884, in Ohio. Henderson was a lawyer and resided for many years in Graham, North Carolina. Though often referred to as "Major Henderson," he never served in the military in any official capacity. Henderson died in Washington, D.C. on January 25, 1953.
