Hadassie Clarice Guthrie (née Foster) was born July 3, 1901, in North Carolina. In 1920, Guthrie provided testimony in an investigation into an attempted lynching in Alamance County. She married Henry Clayborn Guthrie, a combat veteran of the 115th Machine Gun Battalion, in June 1921. She died in Burlington, North Carolina on December 29, 1982.
