Biographical Description

William Washington Garrett was born on June 26, 1868, in Alamance County, North Carolina. Garrett was proprietor of the Graham Hotel, Cafe, and Pool Room, a key scene in an attempted lynching in Graham, North Carolina, in July 1920. Garrett later provided testimony in an investigation into the attempted lynching. He died in Graham on October 26, 1929.
