Biographical Description

Edward Everett was born in Dorcester, Massachusetts on April 11, 1794. Everett was an educator and minister who served as governor of Massachusetts (1836-1839), president of Harvard (1846-1849), and U.S. Secretary of State (1852-1853), among other positions. He died in Boston on January 15, 1865.
