Julius Guion was born in 1830. He lived in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, where his father operated a prominent hotel. He attended the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1851. He later worked as a school teacher in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He died in Mississippi 1873.
