Martin Van Buren was born in Kinderhook (Columbia County), New York on December 5, 1782. Van Buren was an attorney and politician who served as the eighth president of the United States from 1837 to 1841. Van Buren died in Kinderhook (Columbia County), New York on July 24, 1862.
