Biographical Description

William Alexander Smith was born in Warren County, North Carolina, on January 9th, 1828. He was a farmer, railroad president, legislator, and congressman. Smith served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1873-1875. Smith died in Richmond, Virginia, on May 16th, 1888.
