Biographical Description

Sidney M. Finger was born on May 24, 1837. He was a merchant and a Confederate veteran. Finger sent a letter to Gov. Zebulon B. Vance about a transfer of imprisoned laborers from the Chester and Lenoir Narrow Gauge Railroad to the Western North Carolina Railroad. He died in Newton (Catawba County), North Carolina, on December 26, 1896.
