Mary Walker was a resident of Orange County, North Carolina. The daughter of a farmer and mill operator, Mary Walker married James Hunter, a prominent Regulator. Some time between August and December 1771, several powerful citizens from Guilford County petitioned for James Hunter to be pardoned for his role as a leader in the Regulator Rebellion. The petitioners garnered sympathy by referring to Mary Hunter as his "poar disconslet Wife." While James Hunter's pardon has not been located, documents mentioning him after 1771 indicate he was pardoned. She died sometime after 1783.
