Biographical Description

Levi Dawson was born in Craven County, North Carolina in about 1718. He served at a lieutenant colonel in the 8th Regiment of the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolution. Sometime prior to December 1782 Dawson purchased and enslaved James Manly, an American Indian man. Dawson died in Craven County in about 1812.
