Biographical Description

Rose, an African American woman residing in Pasquotank Precinct, North Carolina, was enslaved by William Reed. In January 1719 Reed requested a warrant asking for the arrest of two other colonists, Macrora Scarborough and Thomas Miller, whom Reed claimed had helped Rose run away, or self-emancipate. Any further records, including whether Rose ever returned to Reed, have not been located.
