Biographical Description

Samuel Carter was a resident of Edgecombe County, North Carolina by 1748. An owner of enslaved people, in 1765 Carter served on the local freeholders court when it heard the case of Jamey, an enslaved man charged with theft. Carter died or moved from Edgecombe sometime after May 1768.
