Biographical Description

Caesar, an African American man residing in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, was enslaved by Charles Porter. In April 1774 Caesar came before the local court when he was charged and found guilty of an unspecified felony. The court ordered Caesar's execution as punishment for his crime. Porter later received compensation for the loss of Caesar's labor. Any further records regarding this individual have not been located.
