Benjamin Garris was a resident of Halifax County, North Carolina. In 1768 an enslaved man named Jack broke into Garris' home and stole a gun. Garris later testified before the court regarding the theft and Jack was executed for the crime. Garris may have later resided in Northampton County, North Carolina in 1786.
