Jack, an African American man residing in Northampton County, North Carolina, was enslaved by Samuel Thomas. In March 1768 Jack came before the local freeholders' court when he, along with two other enslaved men, was accused of murdering his enslaver. The details of and motive for the crime were not recorded. The court found Jack guilty of accessory to murder and ordered his subsequent execution by hanging on March 18, 1768. No further records regarding this individual have not been located.
