Biographical Description

Peter was an enslaved African American man residing in Hyde County, North Carolina. In 1756 he testified before the local freeholders court regarding Daniel, an enslaved man charged with poison. According to Peter, Daniel had confessed to him that he has used rattlesnake venom to poison Elizabeth Eborne, one of his enslavers. Peter's enslaver was not recorded in the trial documents. Any further records regarding this individual have not been located.
