Biographical Description

William Taylor born Norfolk, Virginia and later became a resident of Clayroot in Pitt County, North Carolina. Taylor was an owner of enslaved people and in 1775 at least one of Taylor's enslaved people participated in spreading a rumor about a potential uprising and rebellion amongst the enslaved people of the region. Taylor died in Pitt in about November 1794.
