Seth Pilkington was born in Lancashire, England in June 1697. A merchant in Beaufort County, North Carolina, Pilkington owned enslaved people. In 1748 he served on a local freeholders court which heard the case of Stephen, an enslaved man charged with theft. Pilkington died in Beaufort County in about 1754.
