July 15th 1777}

Armel Holles being sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Deposeth & saith that he was at a Reaping at Jonathan Davses about three weeks agoe, John Garret took him to Assist him to take his horse mend his bridle & walked with him some distance from the House, when Mr John Garret told him that 14 Members of the Assembly wanted to introduce the Romish religion, the Garret then asked him if he would stand up for his Religion. He said he would, Garret then asked him if he would take an oath. He told him he would, Garret then swore him to Secrecy. Garret then told him to go to Daniel Legate, which he accordingly did. Then Legate swore him again to be true to his Coun Religion & Country & further this Deponant saith not
