This Day Came before me Benja. Morris and Maid Oath that on or about the 15th Day of May 1777 that he Was in Companni With John Clifton the Borders of North Carolina Near to the South and that the sd. Clifton Wanted him the sd. Morris to Join him to Raise an Arme of men in be halph of the King and further he Said he Would apply to the Congres for Money to Raise men and as he Raisd them he had a Constitution for them to Assign in be halph of the King, and that he Rote to his father Not to Let his too sons [lis] in the Regular Sarvis. For he had found out a better way. As he had Authorrity a Power to List men A Gainst the State
