This day came before me Cornelius Harnett Esqr. One of his Majesty's Justices assigned to keep the Peace for the county aforesad. Isaac Faries Practitioner of Physick and Surgery who being sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, Deposeth & Saith

That on the 28 of Febr. last he was calld upon to see a Negro man Slave named Tom belonging to John DuBois Esqr., who in pursuance of the sentance of a Court had been Castrated sometime before, he accordingly went and found him with Convoulsive Motions on the Diaphragma every minute or two, and soe cramped backwards that there was no bending of him forwards, he likewise saw the Wounded parts examined after he was dead, and is of Opinion that the Castration was the cause of his death, He further declares he knew the fellow for several years before and never heard or knew of any disorder he had that could occasion his death before the Castration, Further saith not.
