My dear Mr. Johnson:-

Your letter received, and I beg to advise that when the proposition to manufacture chairs in the State Prison was brought before the Board it was, at my suggestion, continued indefinitely. At the same time it was agreed by the Directors that if the proposition should ever again be brought before the Board that no action would be taken until the manufacturers of chairs in North Carolina should be given emple opportunity to be heard. My own opinion is that the proposition is permanently laid on the table.

I am always glad to hear from you about any matter touching the administration or the welfare of the State.
