The Eastern District Exemption Board,
Goldsboro, N.C.

Gentlemen:-

I have been asked to write you in regard to Mr. E. F. Powell, Cashier of the Bank of Columbus at Vineland, N.C. I am reliably informed that Mr. Powell runs this bank absolutely, that he has built the bank up, that the stockholders and depositors rely on him to run it and that it would be exceedingly difficult, if not impossible, to find a man to take his place. I simply give you these facts, and am willing to vouch for their accuracy. Of course it is for the Board to say whether or not upon these facts Mr. Powell should be given a deferred classification.

With much respect, I beg to remain,

Very truly yours,

[unsigned]
