My dear Sir:-

Charley Bunton of Alamance county was called for army duty on March 22nd, last, and he failed to go up.

He is an illegitmate child without a fathers care and without the advantage of an education. Since understanding the conditions better, his mother and sister have persuaded him to go to the camp and do his bit, and if not inconsistant with the rules of your office, please send me a letter addressed to the Local Board of Alamance county, asking them to send him to camp and allow him to begin training without undue punishment for his delay in reporting to the board.
