A. Bruce Bielaski, Esquire,
Chief, Bureau of Investigation,
Washington, D.C.

Dear Sir:-

With reference to my memoranda in the matter of E. A. King I beg to advise that Major Langston informed me on the 3rd inst., that in view of the Governor’s letter, and of the Chairman of the Local Board’s reply he instructed C. C. Broughton, who is State Inspector to make a full investigation of this case, and make copies of the Governor’s letter, and of the Chairman of the Local Board’s reply so that all data in the case could be submitted to the Eastern District Board. I was very anxious to obtain the two letters and feel that these two letter should be in your hands, and they can be obtained from Major Langston who will be in the Provost Marshal’s Office by the time this letter reaches you, and he also can, and is more than willing to give you much data bearing on the administration of the selective service act here in North Carolina.

I have not a copy of the letters in the Zollicoffer case, but if you desire them they can be obtained from the Provost Marshal General as I sent the two letters in his case to that office with the report on the case.

Very truly yours,

Dorsey E. Phillips
Agent in Charge.
