In view of the action of the civil authorities of Alamance County, I deem it due the soldiers on duty and the citizenship of the entire State to have a careful investigation made of the alleged assault on the jail in Graham and of the conduct of the troops, on the night of July 19th.

The members of the committee to make the investigation will be announced as soon as it is ascertained that they will serve.
