Dear Governor Bickett;-

Durham has watched with very deep interest the many articles and comments in the newspapers of our State relative to the attidude of the people of Graham and surrounding territory towards the Durham Machine Gun Company, and we note with much satisfaction the appointment of an unprejudiced committee for the purpose of making a full investigation of recent events at that place.

It is our desire that this committee shall have the benefit of all reliable information, and all evidence of a dependable nature to enable them to reach a fair and impartial conclusion. Our citizens hold the highest regard for the Machine Gun Company, its officers and members, and stand ready to take any action which may be necessary to submit all facts to the above mentioned comittee.

Kindly advise me what steps have been taken, if any, to protect the interests of the Machine Gun Company, and whether or not Durham will be expected to furnish counsel for the defense of its citizens who were members of this Company.
