Hon. Hayden Clement,
Salisbury, N.C.

My dear Mr. Clement:-

I enclose you a letter with affidavit that I have just received from Mr. David Clark. I would be glad for you to have the proper authorities investigate the truth in regard to the matters contained in this affidavit, and if this assault was committed as set forth, to see to it that the guilty parties are brought to justice. I am sending you copy of a letter that I have just written to Mr. Clark.

I am glad to know that the situation in Concord and Kannapolis seems to have cleared up, and I appreciate your deep interest in the treatment of a very delicate and dangerous situation.

Very truly yours,

[unsigned]
