Biographical Description

James Vaughn was a resident of Northampton County, North Carolina. An owner of enslaved people, Vaughn served on the local freeholders court, which heard cases involving enslaved people. During the American Revolution, he was a captain in the 7th North Carolina Regiment of the Continental Army. He died sometime after 1786.
