Biographical Description

George Durant was born in Perquimans Precinct, North Carolina on September 30, 1685. A joiner, in about 1713 he married Hagar Crisp, making Nicholas Crisp his father-in-law. In 1720 he captured an enslaved man named Sambo who had been abducted from his father-in-law's and returned him to Nicholas Crisp. Durant died in Perquimans on September 12, 1730.
