Biographical Description

Hannah Dowers was a resident of Perquimans County, North Carolina. The wife of blacksmith William Dowers, Hannah's maiden name is unknown. In 1720 Hannah Dowers gave a sworn deposition before the court regarding her neighbor Joanna Palmer, who was charged with helping her husband Paul kidnap and detain Sambo, an enslaved man. Any further information about Dowers has not been located.
