Biographical Description

William Franks supposedly was a enslaver in Craven County, North Carolina in 1752. When Coff, an enslaved African American man, escaped and was later captured, he named Franks as his enslaver. However, if William Franks was indeed the name of Coff's enslaver, no further records of a man of that name in Craven County have been located.
