Biographical Description

Joseph Sikes was a resident of Northampton County, North Carolina. Sikes represented Northampton in the North Carolina Colonial Assembly from 1761-1762 and from 1764-1765. A local justice of the peace, in 1768 he heard a case involving three enslaved people charged with murdering their enslaver. He died in Northampton County in about 1771.
